Horn Section

Ray Berggren - Musical Director/Trumpet, Keys and Vocals: Ray, “The Man with 6,000 Sounds”, plays keyboards, trumpet and flugelhorn, and sings back-up vocals. Ray also plays bass guitar. He started learning how to set up and run sound at age 3, and classical training began at age 4. Public performance began at age 5 - and has been a staple of his life ever since. Ray started getting paid to play at age 13, by which time his major influences were clear: Beethoven, Maynard Ferguson and Jimi Hendrix. Since then, Ray has sailed the eastern seaboard from Maryland to Massachusetts, became an avid downhill skier, and has been running a carpet cleaning business for the past 20 years. The wide variety of musical styles certainly helps in this challenging joint project, and Ray is honored to be part of the latest incarnation of Tony Rocker and the Comeback Special Band.

Jeff Basham - Drums and Vocals: Raised in Illinois, Jeff earned his first drum set at 13, and began his long career as a professional musician. While serving in US Navy, Jeff shared the stage with bands such as “Styx”, and “The Doobie Brothers.” Jeff then toured the US, sharing the stage with many popular acts, including “Jim Dandy” and “Molly Hatchet.” Settling in Houston (TX) for a while, he worked with some nationally known country artists, including BJ Thomas, Randy Cornor, Chet Daniels, Kay Reeves, and Robby Springfield. For two years, Jeff toured nationwide with the popular “One Eyed Jacks.” Moving to Northern California, Jeff performed at many San Francisco Bay Area venues, and had the pleasure of sharing the stage with rock legend Elvin Bishop, as well as “The Doors” keyboardist Ray Manzarek. Jeff is back in the Midwest, and still heavily involved in performing regionally. Jeff was a member of The Nines, where he met Rich Heft. A former member of Quest, Jeff is now part of Tony Rocker and the Comeback Special Band.

Bobby "D" DesMarais - Lead Guitar and Vocals: Bobby was a schoolboy when he heard his first Beatles song. He had been singing from the time he could talk and had been performing publicly in his home town of Kenosha, Wisconsin since the age of eight. The next day he bought a used electric guitar at the local pawn shop. His passion for music has since taken many forms, from playing folk music in the coffee houses of the 1960 to playing the classics as principle Trumpet with the Kenosha Symphony. From polka bands to soul bands, Bobby has delighted audiences in just about every musical venue imaginable. Bobby is proud to be part of Tony Rocker and the Comeback Special Band and their effort to keep this important chapter of music history alive.
